A Tasteful Competition
Sponsored by America's Pork Producers, Taste of Elegance™ is a culinary competition designed to
inspire innovative and exciting ways to menu pork. Taste of Elegance brings talented chefs together
from around the country to compete in these prestigious regional and national recipe competitions.
The program not only provides an elegant occasion to highlight the increasing popularity of pork on
America's menus but helps to strengthen chefs' preference for pork as a flavorful and versatile meat.

Since the Beginning
The first regional Taste of Elegance was held in 1987. Since its inception, the program has evolved
into over twenty regional competitions, with more than 500 chefs participating. Competitors represent
a wide spectrum of dining establishments, from fine dining restaurants to healthcare operations.
In fact, participation has increased each year as more and more foodservice professionals use pork
to create dishes that consumers enjoy and operator are proud to serve.

A Good Cause
With co-sponsorships by national foodservice trade publications, including Food Arts, R&I, Restaurant
Business and Restaurant Hospitality, the Taste of Elegance and participating chefs receive widespread
consumer and trade publicity. Through cooperative alliance between Taste of Elegance competitions and
local national charities, the events enjoy extensive media coverage. It is through these alliances that
America's Pork Producers continue to demonstrate their commitment to providing a quality product and
to serving the communities where they live

And the Winner is...
At every Taste of Elegance, prizes are awarded for outstanding pork dishes. Judges base their decisions
on taste, originality and presentation. Judges for these events have included master chefs, food editors
and past Taste of Elegance winners. From Washington, D.C. to San Francisco, award-winning pork entries
have included such creative dishes as Thai Red Curry Pork, Coriander-Infused Pork Loin, and Cider-Glazed
Smoked Pork Tenderloin.

Taste What's Next
While Taste of Elegance competitions continue to grow nationally, plans for the future also include
expansion into other countries. As the most popular meat in the world, pork provides unlimited culinary
opportunities for all types of cuisine. By expanding the competition beyond the U.S., Taste of Elegance
can establish itself as a program with global impact.
